It was developed from Wernher von Braun’s Redstone rocket. The Saturn V was enormous, standing 363 feet (111 m) high and weighing, at takeoff, 6,423,000 pounds (2,913,500 kg). Everything about the rocket was big. The five F-1 engines in the first stage produced about 7,650,000 pounds (3,470,000 kg) of thrust.
